The race will be a boon for tourism in South Jeolla Province and preparations are being made to accommodate all the visitors. People will have the option of "temple-stays" at Buddhist temples, and there will be shuttle buses from the temples to the track, providing visitors with a cultural experience to go along with the weekend of racing. Many of the other stops on the F1 circuit have festival atmospheres surrounding the race weekend, and the Yeognam race will be no different, complete with concerts and parades.
The race in Korea will be held October 17, 2010.
For the record, Daeheungsa in Haenam county is the only temple in Jeollanam-do that offers a temple stay in English, but there are 20 with temple stays in Korean. Getting ahead of ourselves, there are always tons of great festivals held in Jeollanam-do each fall, when they're not cancelled because of swine flu, and October 17th would be a perfect time for out-of-towners to look around. Not only at temples, which admittedly get kind of boring, but to regional tourist attractions like the Boseong Green Tea Fields, the Damyang Bamboo Forest, Yeosu's Hyangiram, or Suncheon Bay.
