
Gwangju Theater (광주극장) will be showing a collection of foreign movies from the 50s, 60s, and 70s from October 23rd through November 1st as part of a widescreen movie special. The lineup is 2001: A Space Odyssey, La Dolce Vita, Yojimbo, Laurence of Arabia, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Graduate, Manhattan, and Enter the Dragon. I've written about Gwangju Theater a couple times (1, 2); it routinely shows foreign and domestic movies new and old. To get there from downtown Gwangju, go to the four-way intersection at the McDonald's and Lotteria, then cross the street and wander into the older part of town and make

Yojimbo is a great movie, but I wonder if Toshiro Mifune was a bit overrated. I watched Seven Samurai, Yojimbo and Sanchiro over a short period and found he mostly kicked ass and laughed a crazy laugh.
