Spider catches, eats bird.

Fuck you spider.

According to this article it's a Golden silk orb-weaver spider, of which there are many species including the "banana spider" we routinely see in Korea---living at my school god damn it---and its more colorful relative the nephala clavata. The bird is a Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, which are about four inches long.

Hey Brian, you failed to mention that the photo was taken in Australia. We have the biggest spiders! Our spiders eat birds! Democratic Republic of Australia Number One!

Sorry, couldn't help that comment, after reading the Yahoo news article you linked us to in this post, but seriously, how am I going to get my American boyfriend to come home and meet my parents at xmas now? Thanks a lot.

Praying mantids will also catch and eat birds, although I have to admit they don't look as creepy as that spider does.

This is samedi, by the way. For some reason I can no longer post comments using the Open ID / LiveJournal log-in.
