Hundreds of elementary school students in Boryeong get rash from mud.

KBS reports that 180 students from six Boryeong elementary schools have picked up a rash after visiting a preview of the Boryeong Mud Festival on the 4th and 5th. The Daejeon Ilbo says 500 students have come down with a skin disease. Organizers hope this news won't keep away the bikini-clad white women with large breasts, or the photographers who follow them. The festival itself runs from the 11th through the 19th.

The only rash I'll be getting will come from the sun, but thankfully be cured by some aloe vera...

Here's hoping the swine flu didn't make it's way into the sand.

Am I the only one who thinks the Boryeong med festival is an exceedingly stupid event?

More shitty reporting. One paper says 180 childfren got a rash and the other says 500. Monkeys with pens and pads.

The Boryeong Mud Festival never struck me as all that interesting, either. On the other hand, my coworker - who looks like she spent a little too much time at frat parties and killed a few brain cells in the process - can't wait for it to start. Hmm.

Ahhh come on, how can mud, scandaly clad women, excessive amounts of alcohol, a beach, and thousands of people NOT be a good time! It's total anarchy, something Korean festivals need a little more of if you ask me.

Some of the events can be interesting and/or fun, and the fireworks and bands are a cool distraction from the swimming I'd be doing, but the whole "Wooooooo! Let's get drunk and act like jackasses" thing is so frat house. Not that I'm against drinking, hell, I indulge quite a bit myself. But it's not Florida and it's not Spring Break.

But just in case it is, I'll have my camera along so I can do my best impression of a Korean photographer from the Chosun Ilbo.

Has there been any other information involving this? I'm getting married here the following weekend, and I don't want a skin rash for my wedding. I'll probably just avoid the crowded ocean and the mud pits, but I just want to know if they officially figured out what it was yet.
