Vote for the top Korea blogs.

Today's my birthday. Justin Timberlake and I turn 28 today. In other news, Roboseyo and others have organized a ballot to vote for the best Korea-related blogs of 2008. Go to this entry on Hub of Sparkle and take the two-part survey. I'm nominated in these categories:

* "K-Blog Story of the Year"
* "Best Korea Blog 2008, Overall"
* "Most Thought Provoking Korea Blog"
* "Most Current and Timely Korea Blog, 2008"
* "Angriest Korea Blogger"

I'd like to bring home some gold in a couple of those categories, and not simply for "Angriest Blogger"---a designation I'm really sick of hearing---but I won't influence your voting too much here. Oh, remember, today is my birthday. Perhaps I'll do a "State of the Blogosphere" post when I get back from vacation. You can read my thoughts on the topic from way back in May, and it's interesting to see how much the blogosphere has changed as old blogs have either stopped updating or become simply unreadable, and new ones have grown in popularity. In the meantime, try to vote between now and February 5th, and remember today is my birthday.

Happy birthday.

I actually agree with what you'll probably say about being nominated for "Angriest Korea Blogger" -- if there'd been room for "Most misunderstood blogger" you'd've been on it, but I capped nominations at 4 per blogger (other than the story of the year category). I believe we've discussed this before, but one has to narrow one's lens quite a bit, and ignore quite a lot of your blog, and all of your travel/jeollado guide stuff, in order to believe that's all there is to brian in JND.

On the other hand, that's where you got nominated...

good luck in the other categories. Not to skew voting, but you were my vote in the "Most Timely" category.

I'll probably wrap up the survey with a "state of the blogosphere" post as well.

hope your vacation's kicking butt.

Yeah, I can tell you're "angry" about that. Too funny. The shtick doesn't stop.

I've heard you on Seoul Podcast, and you do a pretty good job of hiding behind your text. Regardless of your blog-persona, as a person you deserve no awards related to "angriest" or "though provoking." You're like those trolls who hate you. Get them talking with their voice and they will also probably cower.

As I write under my real name it's easy to blur the lines between person and persona. I don't give interviews "in character," nor do I cower or hide behind anything. This is blogging, not real life, and believe it or not what you find on here hardly reflects what goes on in my daily life in Korea. I think some people are convinced I'm hunkered down in some bomb shelter, keeping Korea at a safe distance. Whatever.

In fact I don't really attract many trolls nowadays. Only the occassional hater. But I remind myself I can't please everyone. Not as myself nor as my "persona." I'm caring less and less.
