There's a
blog and
forum for those interested in brewing your own beer at home in Korea. Called
Homebrew Korea it's run by another Gangjin alum who got started last year and who make a kegerator by putting his kegs inside an old, hollowed-out refrigerator. I won't pretend to have any idea about what I'm talking about with regards to homebrewing, so just take a look at his site and
his set-up.

End self promotion.
My dad was the family expert on brewing various ales, lagers and stouts, on top of bottling his own wines and liqueurs (various fruit brandies, tia maria, and schnapps).
I found it too much of a bother (except for the liqueurs which are rather quick to make) and I'm far too impatient for them to brew/ferment, so I stuck to homebrewing sodas. A lot faster turnaround (24-48 hours), so the feed back is almost immediate. And because the feedback is almost immediate, it's much easier to tweak and experiment with the more unusual flavours.
Someday I'll have to blog it for others.
