"Gypsy Scholar" on Anti-Americanism.

Professor and blogger "Gypsy Scholar" has a neat little story up about anti-Americanism in Korea. Gangwon-do? Try Gangwon-DON'T! Hahahahahaha. *cough* Go read it here.

God I've had this saved on my computer since December and I'm thankful for a chance to finally use it.

You do understand that it is not about Gangwondo, nor Korea at all, right?

Or, it may be tangentally; the theme of anti-Americanism was believable, but still, the setting was not, in fact, Gangwondo at all.

Of course I understand that, hence the "I see what you did there" lolcat. But the embedded story is "set" in Gangwon-do, and people will assume it's true until they get to Jeffrey's commentary. Moreover, the story is "about" Korea in that it's a commentary on anti-Americanism here . . . namely, that anti-Americanism isn't a uniquely Korean trait, something I myself am guilty of forgetting from time to time. Sorry, didn't mean to insult your adopted home province. You can say something bad about Jeollanam-do if you want. Everybody else does.

not me. i save my real venom for chungchong province (those slow-talking bastards). re: jeollanamdo: I liked jiri mountain and kwangju quite a lot when i went there.

Yeah, I think most people would either not get my joke or not consider it insulting.

I don't understand the confusion, for I myself understand everything. Even my own blog. Do I contradict myself? I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.

Though there is one thing that I don't fully understand, Brian, namely, why you sent that cute girl packing who only wanted to have you link to her blog...

Huh? I like cute girls. But I'm pretty liberal with deleting spam.

Maybe you're right, but now, I can no longer click the link and look.

Perhaps you could start a "Spam" category in your blogroll?
