Andong has cancelled the acclaimed Mask Dance Festival, scheduled this year for September 25th through October 4th, over swine flu worries.
HT to "norepeat" on the thread about Gwangju's major cancellations. Others have posted comments on other cancellations in the country, though so far I've only devoted posts to the local ones.

NO WAY!!! This is my favorite festival in Korea. I buy Christmas presents here every year! Crapola.
The Andong Mask Festival (and associated fireworks at Hahoe) is something I've been looking forward to for the past couple of months. Argh. Well, there go my plans for Chuseok ...
This is a great festival. I enjoyed it a lot.
Maybe when the vaccine is widely available the authorities will feel more comfortable letting these events go forward.
I feel sorry for all those, including myself, who already bought their airline tickets and charged their hotel rooms for the festival, especially since this was on such short notice. Hopefully, I'll be able to still visit Hahoe Village and see some Korean mask dancing. Looks as if I'll be stuck in Daegu for one week. Any suggestions for sight-seeing?
Since I'm coming all the way from Hawaii to Daegu even though the Andong festival has been cancelled, is there anyone who would like to brush up on their English for an hour at my hotel lobby in exchange for showing me around during the daytime for an hour? I mostly need directions to certain places.
I'm a 69 years old American woman of Korean ancestry, and English is my first language. I also taught English at all educational levels. Recently, I earned a TESOL certificate.
You can e-mail me at mchawaiiyobo@gmail.com I'll be in Daegu Sept 29 - Oct 5.
