I think I liked the adages better when they were about spousal abuse.

I suppose we use similar slang in English: when's the last time you told one of your buddies, "I'd hit that."

no joke.

If I could create a setting where all my word verification words were vaguely dirty, or resembled vaguely dirty words and phrases (maybe I should ask Mr. TyFoon for help), I totally would: just for the funny mental image of my clean-cut sister having to type dirty words to comment on my posts.

According to the K-Wife, the article is garbage, and the adages are all about spousal abuse. The fish thing is about 'keeping them soft' (docile in the case of the wife), and the beating with a stick actually means you need to beat the wife every 3 days to keep her in her place (the wife said 'to show that the man is the master').

Oh, and being British, I have never said "I'd hit that"... We are much cruder than that!
