The real reason they should be cancelling fall festivals.



Forget swine flu, it's nephila clavata (무당거미) season. Those three---two females and a male---were hanging out *cough* near the entrance of Chonnam National University last week, as was this one:



Here are a couple photographs I took in Beolgyo-eup, Boseong county a couple of years ago. You'll find one of the pictures on Wikipedia because it's awesome and terrifying because I put it there.




When they reach maturity their bodies are roughly eight feet long and 600 pounds, and they live in colonies of up to 1,000.

  3. The two I took pictures of for my blog near my house disappeared because it rained this weekend. I'm terrified now because I don't know where they are. Those things are fine by me as long I know where they are and they don't move (which they didn't do for weeks).

  4. ewwww... i saw one yesterday. as long as they stay away from me and my dog, i'm cool with them.. but dude.. 8 feet... yea right! ;)

  5. No joke? I thought those spiders in "Eight Legged Freaks" and the second Harry Potter movie were totally digital.
