This blog is becoming like a Sunday drive with my grandmother. It used to be the best whining blog in Korea. These days it feels like an arm of the Ministry of Tourism.
Well, it still is the best "whining" blog in Korea, but ever since I started in 2007 I always paid attention to stuff---including tourism---in Jeollanam-do. No sense in alienating a bunch of people in the name of street cred for the sake of making a few "whiners" happy. Last I checked the quote-unquote hate Korea blogs have a very short shelf-life, and haven't fared very well.
For what it's worth, a lot of blogs nowadays look like they're doubling as columns for the KTO. Being informative in that way is good, in moderation, but it leads to a staleness in the blogosphere. I post about touristy stuff because it interests me and because until I started blogging there wasn't much English-language information about things in Jeollanam-do. But I do like to balance it with news and commentary, because after all that's what helped build the site.
