A Lynx helicopter belonging to the Third Naval Fleet which was patrolling near Chuja Island 14.5 km southeast of Jindo, South Jeolla Province, crashed around 8:58 pm on Thursday, leaving one officer dead and three others missing.
The helicopter was searching for a submarine. The military and maritime police immediately sent out two high-speed ships and eight patrol boats to the site of the accident, where they discovered the body of Lt. Kwon Dae-ha.
The JoongAng Daily and Korea Times also have English-language coverage. A Chosun Ilbo article provides the following map:

Chuja-do is administered by Jeju province. Here's a post from another blogger's visit to the island (actually a cluster of islands).
It must be administered by Jeju province, because I never really heard mention of if when I lived on Jindo, and for my first few months, one of my jobs was teaching on outlying islands like that.
Still, interesting. The currents in that area are pretty fast and the water's pretty cold, so I don't have much hope for survivors, sadly.
Searching for a submarine...?
KT says a `routine flight' while here we have searching for a submarine; searching for submarines might well be considered a `routine flight' but I doubt searching for a submarine is very routine at all
I would think searching for North Korean vessels is considered a routine part of the routine flight. South Korea did sink a North Korean submarine off Yeosu in 1998.
