I haven't decided if I care enough to name a "Worst Video of 2009"---Kara has an unfair advantage because all of theirs are nominated---but this is certainly a contender. It's Egg's "Today" (에그 "투데이):
Yes, there is a group named Egg. To go along with HAM, I guess. I haven't decided whether it's better to select a worst video or select a wosrst song. Anyway, It's far too early to narrow down the nominees to five, but here are a couple other contenders. Here is Tiara with "Bo peep," which in addition to being repetitive and nonsensical, has introduced another ass-shake:
And one of 2009's early favorite's, 낯선 with "놀러와":
Then there's another recent single, IU's "Marshmallow," which gets points for overdoing it with the Asian poses and for throwing around "boy" and "gull."
And I don't want to tip my hand, but perhaps the worst of 2009 was Rainbow's "Gossip Gull," which didn't realize that a lisp is neither sexy, sweety, or pretty.

Hmm...these are all girl groups. Maybe some of this discussion needs to focus on the analyst rather than the subjects.
Props for pointing out IU's Marshmallow. Her first single "Boo" was actually pretty good, but this new one is weak. I saw a live version on TV over the weekend and she had a goofy-ass marshmallow dancing next to her on stage.
Come to think of it I don't see many music videos...I just watch the live countdown shows. 2NE1's pro wrestling style "debut" has to be K-Pop's most laughable moment of 2009.

Well, that's a good point about them being all girl groups, I didn't think about that. (Natseon isn't a girl group, though). I don't follow K-pop much, just watch km for a little in the morning.
The goofy-ass marshmellow is also in the music video. I saw it dancing in a live performance as well. Cute mascot.
- Rainbow's Gossip Girl is just awful. From the lyrics, to the mispronunciations, to the awful "dancing;" the whole thing is terrible. That being said, I do like that one set which fakes a typical magazine cover.
Also, best looking girls out of all the groups here.
- IU's Marshmallow seems pretty harmless. I can't fault her for overusing Asian hand gestures when we're talking about a culture that ingrains the practise so heavily into their youth that people have set up websites simply to provide us with rules for when and how to use them:

Also, say what you will about it, I think that marshmallow character is pretty cute and well designed. See? I'm really a big softy.
- Nassun's video was... I don't get this... Do people think he's cool or something? 'Cause he comes across as a clown, but I don't get if that's supposed to be his "thing," or if he's actually trying to portray some sort of "coolness" but failing miserably at it. This whole video was an exercise in trying to hard. Pathetic but harmless.
- "WE ARE TOGEDZUUUH!" T-ara is a pretty phenomenal train wreck. Utterly ridiculous costumes, stunningly bad "dancing," and music that's maybe just one step up from an old skool 8-bit video game, this video showcases not only what's horribly wrong with Korean music, but all music in general. This atrocity should never have been made.
Best moment: That absolutely incredible exit from the stage. I can't stop laughing. That was the point, right?
- WINNER: EGG.
I'm glad I watched these videos backwards. I didn't think anything would beat T-ara or Rainbow, but I was incredibly wrong. This video is a delicious blend of cliché vomit, best described as a clusterfuck of bad karaoke video staples before being a bad karaoke video.
This is the type of video whereby I can't help but wonder if the people involved in the making of this abomination watched the final product and said to themselves: "Oh yeah. This is fucking awesome!"
Who are those people and why do they exist?
Lastly, a question: Does the sign indicate - if I understand this correctly - that her name is: "Ji Eun & Love"? So, she's two people in one? And her second personality is called "Love?"
That's amazing.
1 vote for Marshmallow.
Tiara actually had a 19+ video, but they perform the 15 rated one that is "cutesy".
Here's the 19+ video:

This Is Me Posting: Thanks for that thorough review.
Aaron: Oh, and Egg isn't a girl group, either. Just Kara, Tiara, and Rainbow.
Brent: Holy shit.
Hmmm this is a toughie. Though I have to say 놀러와 is probably the worst song/MV of the choices....but at least it has a minimum of Engrish.
I think that Rainbow's Gossip Girl pretty much sums up the worst of K-Pop for the year, mis-used and mispronounced English (just stop... please T_T), awkward dancing, attempting to be sexy and cute...constant repetition....obvious autotune....o-o-o-oh...a-a-a-a-ahhh
it has it all.
P.S. I saw that Bo Peep had a 19+ MV too...anyone else think that's ridiculous? I mean its title is a nursery ryhme!
I read you regularly, but never comment. I thought I'd take the opportunity to say that I thoroughly enjoy your blog for both the lulz and the serious stuff. Cheers!
I actually follow Kpop a bit, but almost exclusively the artists who show real talent. I avoid the Kara/Tiara/egg/HAM groups due to the cringe-factor being off the scale, but I end up watching some when you post them, because the commentary takes away some of the sting. Hilarity.
So, agreement all around from me. Though, in the case of IU, I tolerate the ridiculous promotions that her company is going for now, because the girl is mad-talented. Her first single was an intense ballad sorta thing with an artsy/creepy video that I loved. Apparently that couldn't compete with the Karas and Tiaras of the world so they drastically changed her image. Quite a shame if you ask me.

I agree with IU's Marshmallow. She a great singer, but this song was just simply bad.
When she debut, she was more of a really talented singer singing angst songs, but I think if she diluted her pop songs, she'll be great.
