Doing a few posts a day means news gets bumped down the page pretty quickly, and posts I especially like may get missed by readers who haven't checked recently. Here's some of what's been going on here lately:
This weekend there will be a number of events:
* The Gwangju Kimchi Cultural Festival.
* The Namdo Food Festival at Suncheon's Nagan Folk Village.
* The Gwangju Indie Music Fest.
* Several classic movies showing at Gwangju Theater.
* The Korea Chrysanthemum Festival started in Hampyeong county yesterday, and looks worth a trip.
* A good time to admire the area's' fall foliage.
You'll find upcoming events in the area on my sidebar to the right. I update as often as possible.
And some other posts people have been talking about lately:
* "Discriminatory hiring practices by the Yeosu Office of Education?"
* "Wall Street Journal map calls it "East Sea / Sea of Japan." However, the particular Korean singer with such strong ideas about how English should be spoken certainly sucks at it himself.
* The Korea Tourism Organization announces "Visit Korea Year" will run from 2010-2012. Christ. Korea's wire service took notice of my blog post on it, and translated some comments into Korean.
* "More cases of swine flu, more deaths" and "Hagwon, more public schools, to close?" looked at schools' reactions to swine flu.
* "Hilton suing Korea's Hilton motels."
* "Beware of cultural tips."
* The post "Lee Charm being blamed for KTO's old failures; lawmaker complains of 'aggressive invasion of foreign budget hotels'" looked at the lack of good, affordable accommodation available to foreign tourists.
* And on that theme I wrote about motels for the Korea Herald recently.
