She's Korea's first transsexual supermodel. When she first participated in the 2009 Super Model Contest this summer, the Korea Times reported on some of the controversy surrounding her entrance:
Some Internet users, including several unsuccessful contestants at the preliminary, say that a person who has artificially changed sex should not be allowed in the beauty contest.
They claimed it is not right for a transsexual, who has obtained a female body artificially, to take part in the contest that evaluates appearance.
I'll bet she's had less plastic surgery than your average racing girl.
The Chosun Ilbo also brings us pictures of pop group Brown Eyed Girls from a recent TV appearance.
I see they've decided that if they're going to be boring and unattractive, they'd better do it in as skimpy clothes as possible.

Yeeuch. Honestly, these K-Pop trollops have all the prurience of rice gruel. I'd rather take the transgender, frankly. At least you know you'd be able to have at least one interesting conversation with her/him...
"At least you know you'd be able to have at least one interesting conversation with her/him..."
LMAO couldn't help but laugh when I read that line.
That has to be the least flattering picture I have seen of the Brown Eyed Girls. At least show a decent picture for some balance...
I know you have a slant towards K-Pop, but don't be a hack about it.
Yes, I am a daily reader.
Yeah, I know you're a regular, brent.
If you'd like to make a case for BEG, be my guest. You're right I don't spend much time sticking up for K-pop, so apologies for not showing balance.
Choi is the second major transsexual model - Harisu is undoubtedly the first famous trans person in Korea, and she did a great deal of modeling back in the day, in addition to acting spots and a short lived singing career.
Yep, and she even did ads for tampons, or she was supposed to anyway. There's a nightclub in Suncheon that never updates the banner hanging outside it, and one of the performers from that date in 2007 is Harisu.
But the KT called her the first transgender supermodel, based I guess on that supermodel pageant. Clearly they don't have much of a memory, or they don't consider Harisu a supermodel.
"Hi, I'm not wearing pants. Does that make you want to buy my album?"
