"Now that she's got the serious credentials under her belt, she's certainly showing a lot more skin."
She's not showing anymore skin than she usually does. First, she's wearing pants, which is less revealing than a skirt. Second, her front side is always covered and she's worn costumes with an open back in competitions before.
Two skaters skating to the same song:
Yuna Kim with a less revealing outfit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZKBqUsFihY
Sasha Cohen with a lot less on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNfp82yTu2U
Of course, in Yuna Kim's case, money from an ice show is chump change for her. She really does them because she likes putting on a performance at home.

You're right that she's wearing pants, but I was referring to her upper body. Her open-back costumes have usually (?) been a flesh-colored unitard (?). (Another photo here.)
Bare back and midriffHer new costume is not showing a lot more skin than before.
You could have argued the performance is more provocative than what she normally does. However, that's because of the choreography and not because of what she's wearing.

That midriff exposure is a lot of skin, though the bare back one still has her with covered shoulders and midriff (but exposed legs).
As far as upper body goes, these Koyang photos are the most overall skin exposure I've seen on her. But then again, I only notice Yuna Kim when she's making news; I don't follow the career closely or look up a lot of pictures (not that you do or that there's anything wrong with it).
At any rate, you have convinced me that this isn't that much more skin than she's shown at certain times in the past.

I hope she's not getting paid for that show if she expects to still be an amateur for the Olympics.

Amateur skaters are allowed to do shows during the off season. It's how they make money for themselves to pay for all their expensive fees.
