When your abdominal region and bottom are exposed, it cools blood passing through fat layers and the uterus and ovaries, giving rise to menstrual cramps and uterus myoma. And that, some doctors believe, can lead to infertility. “It’s important that women keep themselves warm even in the hot summer days,” says Prof. Kim Min-joung, a gynecologist at Catholic University of Korea’s Holy Family (Sungga) Hopistal. “When you develop the feeling of cold by not taking enough care to keep your body warm, it can cause infertility.”
A study shows that abdominal temperature of patients with menstrual cramps and infertility tends to be lower than that of healthy women. Do not wear mini skirts during your period, because when temperatures around your uterus fall, menstrual cramps get worse. Those who have trouble with their heart and lungs, arthritis or chronic diseases such as diabetes have a weaker immune system, which means they need to take extra caution in wearing mini skirts.

Miniskirts can lead to infertility, gynecologist warns.
The Chosun Ilbo tells women to be careful when they wear miniskirts because the exposure can give their girl parts a chill.
Miniskirts can lead to infertility
ReplyDeleteI think this is true. Men who wear miniskirts, in particular, have on average like zero kids.

ReplyDeleteI wish I had the proof to back up this claim, but I am 100% convinced this is a recycled article from circa 1996 and the "IMF crisis".
ReplyDeleteBad economy = shorter skirts =health/safety warnings.
Anyone remember the taxi driver revolt brought about by the claim that short skirts were causing more accidents? Ahh... the good old days.
[edit: deleted and corrected]
I do recall that in the late 1990s they were warning women off from wearing miniskirts because — I sh¡t you not — it was distracting taxi drivers and causing accidents.
ReplyDeleteThe taxi drivers were eyeing the women walking along the side of the road instead of the cars in front of them in the actual road. I might be remembering this wrong, but I think a taxi driver even said he avoided driving around women's universities because he couldn't control himself.

ReplyDeleteMight this be following in that fine tradition of finding proof based on your believes?
In a sane country, this "prof" would have been called into his superior's office and reprimanded. Pseudo-medicine is pretty much the standard here.

ReplyDeleteMen who wear miniskirts have zero kids because, well, they're fags

ReplyDeleteThat's right, my homophobic speech-using friend.
And by explaining it, you've sucked out what little bit of humor there was in this little joke.
So... when does the directive come down to issue school girls waist-to-ankle skirts to replace the rolled-up-like-miniskirts uniforms they have now?
ReplyDeleteperhaps this is an April Fools article?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's better--the original "joke" or its defense.
ReplyDeleteAll the more reason for me to support Korea's decreasing population. It's still decreasing isn't it?
ReplyDeleteStill decreasing and lowest in the OECD
ReplyDeleteAll the more reason for me to support Korea's decreasing population. It's still decreasing isn't it?
ReplyDeletePopulation is not decreasing, not yet. Even with fertility dropping to well below replacement level (2.1 children per woman), population momentum keeps the population growing (i.e., the middle aged and elderly who are no longer producing children will still be around for decades; after they start dying in large numbers will the overall population be affected).
Still decreasing and lowest in the OECD
It is the lowest OECD but it is tied with several non-OECD European countries, while some OECD countries(e.g., Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and especially Japan and Italy) are not far behind.
This is a problem specifically effecting Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan which have similar sociocultural structures and economic trajectory, but it's a wider global problem as well.
According to this site, ROK fertility has started to creep back up, but by very small amounts. At any rate, it appears not to be dropping anymore.
