"You must understand our unique culture." Fuck you. Monitor, meet fist.

I . . . jq8uf8u324qu9ewrfxzcv . . . I'm just going to direct you to this post on The Marmot's Hole. You can browse through my "Mad Bull Shit" category for examples of this issue not yet being about anti-Americanism, if you're so inclined. *cough* I was gonna post more, but my brain hurts from all this Sparkle. I'm just a guy with a blog and some free time, a guy who don't mean shit, and this garbage gets me worked up. Imagine what it's like for the diplomats and professors who actually talk about this stuff for a living. I'll bet they regret not going to trade school around times like this.

You think you've got it bad? Wait until your Korean gets to the point that you can read all this crap. I swear, trudging through all this bullshit the last week has taken at least three years off my life.

PS: Now you know why I don't blog like this all the time like I used to.

It doesn't help that the Red Wings won, huh? =P

Robert, you're doing a good service in posting all this, stuff that otherwise wouldn't get out there. If I weren't addicted to the internet, I'd take like a week off from reading the newspapers and from watching TV . . . see how my outlook changes if I'm not keeping up with all the crap. But it doesn't look like I'll have a slow news day any time soon.

Lee: Well, the Wings are my 2nd favorite team and I cheered for them in middle school and high school. Mostly b/c of Fedorov, although I totally marked out when they signed Hasek. But yeah, too bad about the Pens. At least the Rangers didn't win.

Korea is not so unique. Bad English and inferiority complex: sounds like Pittsburgh.

Seriously though, I've often wondered what Koreans REALLY MEAN by "unique situation" or "unique culture". I always thought in meant something "unfortunate circumstances" or "bad destiny."

I've wondered that too. I've got a post in the dugout that should be ready early next week on the topic, but to my amateur eyes I don't know if it's anything more than trying to distinguish itself from Japan and China. After all, few people outside of Asia really know or care about Korea, and this frustrates them to no end. Um . . . I dunno, I don't detect the same attitude coming from Taiwan(ese), and I think they've always been in a similiar situation.

New Castle . . . yeah, I'm familiar with it but I don't remember the last time I passed through. I'm from Wexford and saw signs pointing in the direction of New Castle all the time. Strange, but according to a recent list Pittsburgh wasn't on the Top 100 best places to live:
http://top100.relocate-america.com/

I thought they always ranked near the top of the most livable cities.

You think you've got it bad, Robert? Even the Hani on a bad day isn't as eye-rollingly absurd as the People's Daily or Xinhua.
